We're a family guiding operation from the High Atlas, not a booking platform. Every route on this site has been walked, tested, and refined by the same people who lead it.
Where we come from
We didn't start a tour company.
We shared what we already knew.
This didn't start with us. Our father, Lahsen Aitidar, was one of the first licensed Berber mountain guides in the High Atlas — leading trekkers through Toubkal and the Atlas valleys long before Morocco had a formal tourism industry. He learned every route by walking it, and he taught us the same way.
We — Smail and Mohamed — grew up on those trails. In 2010 we took over and built on what he gave us: adding routes, adding rigour, building a proper operation. But the principle was already there: know the land deeply, treat every guest like family, never cut corners where safety or honesty is concerned.
Over the years since, we've expanded from Toubkal to the Sahara, from Marrakech to Agadir, from one guide to a full team of licensed professionals. Every one of us grew up walking the routes we now lead.
That's not a marketing line. It's a family legacy.
Our journey
How We Got Here
A Father's Footsteps
Our father, Lahsen Aitidar, was among the first licensed Berber mountain guides in the High Atlas. Long before tourism existed in the region, he was leading small groups through Toubkal, Ourika, and the Aït Benhaddou valley — building trust with travellers one route at a time.
Smail & Mohamed Take Over
We grew up on these trails. In 2010, we — Smail and Mohamed — formalised what had always been a family calling: registering officially and building on everything our father taught us, while expanding the range of routes and the standard of service.
The Sahara Route Opens
We extended south, building our first Erg Chebbi desert camp partnership with a Berber family near Merzouga. The 3-day Marrakech–Sahara circuit became our most-requested trip within a year.
Agadir Base Established
Demand from the Atlantic coast led us to open a second base in Agadir — unlocking the Anti-Atlas, Paradise Valley, and Souss-Massa routes for travellers who didn't want to start from Marrakech.
46 Routes, One Standard
Today we run 46 tours across four categories and six languages. The routes have grown. The standard hasn't moved. Every trip is one we'd take our own families on — because many of them, we already have.

Every guide on our team was born or raised in Morocco's mountain communities. We don't hire staff from travel agencies — we work with the people who actually know these mountains, valleys, and deserts by name.
02Ethical, Community-First Travel
A significant portion of every booking goes directly to the local families, mule handlers, and guesthouses we work with. We don't use large hotel chains or international catering — we keep money in the communities we visit.
03No Booking Platforms, No Mark-Ups
When you book directly with us, you pay us — not a commission layer on top. That means better prices for you and better income for our guides. We've deliberately stayed off the big aggregators since day one.

Born in the foothills of the High Atlas, Smail grew up walking the routes he now leads — part of a family guiding tradition that stretches back more than 30 years. He co-founded Marrakech Eco Tours in 2010, building on his father Lahsen's legacy.
Mohamed Aitidar
Co-founder & Cultural Guide
Mohamed handles the cultural side of the operation — medina tours, imperial city routes, and the Agadir base. His deep knowledge of Moroccan history and architecture makes every medina tour a different discovery.
