8-Day Morocco Highlights: Toubkal Summit and Sahara Desert

Most people choose between the mountains and the desert. This trip does both in eight days: three days on Toubkal, at 4,167 m the highest point in North Africa, then south over the Tizi n'Tichka to a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga. It runs on set dates rather than on demand, which is what makes it a shared trip at a private trip's standard -- fourteen seats, one licensed mountain guide, and a fixed price per seat however few people book.

Set departure dates

Fourteen seats per departure. These dates are fixed and do not move.

Why this date is worth it

  • Jbel Toubkal at 4,167 m -- the highest summit in North Africa
  • A night in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga, reached by camel
  • Five set departures between March and April 2027, fourteen seats each
  • One licensed mountain guide for the whole eight days, not a different driver each leg
  • A fixed price per seat: it does not rise because only three people booked

What to know before you plan around it

  • This is graded challenging. Toubkal is a long walk at altitude, not a technical climb, but summit day is eight to ten hours and starts before dawn.
  • March and early April can still hold snow on the summit ridge, and crampons are sometimes needed -- they are provided, but the ascent is genuinely a winter one at that time of year.
  • Set departures do not move. If the date does not suit you, the same ground is covered privately on our 5-day Toubkal and Sahara trip, on any date you choose.
  • Fourteen seats is the cap, and the March departures are the ones that fill first.
