Imilchil Marriage Moussem
September 2027

Imilchil Marriage Moussem

Held on the plateau near Imilchil at around 2,200 m, the moussem is first a livestock and goods fair for the surrounding Ait Haddidou villages, and second the betrothal gathering it is famous for. It is remote — the approach is a long mountain drive — and it is a working community event rather than a show, which is exactly why it is worth the effort.

Dates not yet confirmed

Set by the Ait Haddidou community and tied to the late-summer herding calendar rather than a fixed date. It is usually held in September; the exact days are announced locally, often only weeks ahead.

Book around 10 weeks ahead — accommodation near these events fills early.

Why this date is worth it

  • A High Atlas plateau at around 2,200 m, well off the tourist circuit
  • First a livestock and goods fair for the surrounding Ait Haddidou villages
  • The betrothal gathering it is famous for, still run by the community
  • A working community event rather than a performance staged for visitors

What to know before you plan around it

  • Remote: the approach is a long mountain drive on slow roads, and that journey is most of the commitment.
  • The exact days are set locally and often announced only weeks ahead, so this is hard to book a flight around.
  • Accommodation near Imilchil is basic and limited. Expect a gite or a village room, not a hotel.
  • It is a community occasion, not a show. Photograph people only with their agreement.
