The water level, the crowds and the waterfalls all shift through the year, and picking the right month is the difference between a quiet swim in full pools and a hot walk to a half-empty one.

Spring (March–June): The Best Window

Spring is the answer for most people. The winter rains have refilled the pools and boosted the Immouzer waterfalls, the palms are green, and the temperatures are warm without the summer extremes. Swimming is at its best, and the valley is busy but not overwhelmed. If you can choose, come now.

Summer (July–August): Reliable Pools, More People

The spring-fed rock pools hold their water through summer, so swimming stays reliable — this is peak season for exactly that reason. The trade-offs are heat and crowds: the main pools fill up from late morning, especially on weekends. Go early, bring water and sun cover, and you will still have a great day.

Autumn (September–October): The Quiet Second Season

After the summer rush thins out, autumn gives you warm water, mild air and far fewer people. The waterfalls are usually at their lowest before the winter rains arrive, but the pools remain swimmable. A quietly excellent time to visit.

Winter (November–February): Green, Fresh, Cooler

Winter is when the valley greens up and the waterfalls come back to life after rain — it is beautiful, if cooler for swimming. Bright winter days are lovely for the walk and the scenery even if you only dip rather than swim. Storms can occasionally make the river rise, so it is worth checking conditions with your guide.
