Morocco's four imperial cities — Marrakech, Meknes, Fes, and Rabat — each carry a different chapter of the country's history. This five-day grand circuit takes you through all of them: the labyrinthine medina of Fes, the monumental gates of Meknes, the UNESCO coastal capital of Rabat, and back to the rose city of Marrakech. One of the great overland journeys in Africa.
Drive north from Marrakech via the Atlas. Stop at Aït Ben Haddou. Continue to Midelt for the night in the high plains between the two Atlas ranges.
