Most Sahara tours leave from Marrakech. This one starts from Agadir — and the southern route adds two places most tourists miss: Taroudant, Morocco's best-preserved medieval rampart city, and Taliouine, the saffron capital of the world. From there the itinerary follows the classic route east through Ouarzazate, Aït Ben Haddou, and Todra Gorge before delivering you to Erg Chebbi — the Sahara's most dramatic dune field — in time for the sunset camel trek. Three days that cover the full width of southern Morocco.
Early pick-up from your Agadir hotel at 6:30 am. Drive east to Taroudant (1 hour) — walk the 16th-century ramparts and the spice souk of this perfectly preserved medieval city. Continue to Taliouine, Morocco's saffron-growing heartland, for a short stop. Drive through Ouarzazate and visit the UNESCO Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou. Continue through the Dades Valley. Arrive hotel by 6:00 pm. Dinner and overnight.
