How Much Does an Ouzoud Waterfalls Day Trip Cost?

Par MET Team30 August 20266 min de lecture

A shared Ouzoud day trip from Marrakech is €40 per person; private is €38 each for two. Here is the full cost, including what the boat and lunch really run to.

What it costs

€40 per person on our

shared Ouzoud day trip from Marrakech.

The private version is **€38 per person for

two**, €27 at four and €22 at six.

Read that twice, because it is unusual: for two or more people the private trip is the

same price or cheaper than the shared seat. The shared tour only makes sense if you are

travelling alone, where it is €40 against €75 for a private car to yourself.

The costs on the ground

Nothing at Ouzoud is expensive, but the tour price does not cover all of it:

ItemTypical costIncluded?
Entry to the fallsFree-
Boat to the cascade base20-30 MADNo, pay on site
Lunch above the falls70-120 MADNo
Local guide down the path100-150 MAD per groupOptional
Parking (if self-driving)~20 MAD-

So budget roughly 100-150 MAD each in cash on top of the tour price for the boat and

lunch. That is not a hidden extra - it is simply how the site works, and we would rather

you knew than found out at the top of the path.

Doing it yourself

Ouzoud is genuinely easy to reach independently. It is 150 km of good road from Marrakech,

there is a car park at the top, and the path down is obvious. A hire car for the day plus

fuel will run to roughly 400-600 MAD, which for four people beats any tour.

What you are buying with a tour is the driving - five hours of it, on a day when you also

want to walk a steep path in the heat.

What the day looks like

Leave Marrakech around 8am, arrive around 10:30. The walk down takes twenty minutes past

the macaques, the boat runs across to the spray at the base, and lunch is on one of the

terraces looking straight at the cascade. Back in Marrakech by early evening.

At 110 m over three tiers, Ouzoud is the tallest waterfall in North Africa and the water

runs year round, though it is fullest from March to June after the winter rain.

If you want something quieter and closer, the

Ourika Valley day hike is an hour from Marrakech rather

than two and a half, and is a walk rather than a viewpoint.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Ouzoud day trip cost?
Our shared day trip from Marrakech is €40 per person on a fixed departure. The private version is €38 per person for two, €27 at four and €22 at six - so for two people or more the private trip actually costs the same or less than the shared seat, because the vehicle cost splits across your group.
Is there an entry fee at Ouzoud?
No. The falls are open and free to walk to. What costs money on site is the small boat that takes you close to the base of the cascade, at roughly 20-30 MAD per person, and parking if you drive yourself. Guides at the top will offer to walk you down for a negotiated fee, typically 100-150 MAD for a group.
How far is Ouzoud from Marrakech?
About 150 km, or two and a half hours each way on decent road. That makes it a full day out - most trips leave Marrakech around 8am and are back by 6 or 7pm, with roughly four hours at the falls, which is enough to walk down, take the boat and have lunch above the cascade.
Can you swim at Ouzoud?
Yes, in the pool at the base of the main fall, and people do. The water is cold year round and the spray keeps the rocks slick, so wear something you can grip in. The pool is deep in places and there are no lifeguards - it is a natural river, treated as such.
Will I see the monkeys?
Usually. Barbary macaques live in the woods along the descent path and are used to people, which is exactly why you should not feed them - fed macaques get aggressive and it is a real problem at the site. Keep bags closed; they are quick and entirely willing.
