Three 4,000 m summits in three days costs more than a standard Toubkal ascent โ but not for the reason most people assume. Here is what the extra buys, itemised.
The short answer
Our 3-day Toubkal Three Peaks trek is
from โฌ280 per person, everything included. Arranging the identical itinerary yourself
comes to roughly 3,200โ4,600 MAD for two people โ and the gap between those
numbers is smaller than it looks, for reasons worth understanding.
What you are actually paying for
This trek summits Timesguida (4,089 m), Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083 m) and
Toubkal (4,167 m) in three days, based out of the Toubkal Refuge at 3,207 m.

The guide is the whole difference
A standard Toubkal ascent takes a licensed mountain guide. The Ouanoukrim pair does
not โ it takes a high-altitude qualified guide, and there are far fewer of them.
That is a rate at the top of the 500โ800 MAD range rather than the middle, on every
day of the trip.
This is why the three-peaks trek is not simply "the 2-day trek plus a day". The
2-day summit is from โฌ195 and this is from โฌ280 โ
a 71% increase for a 50% longer trip with a scarcer guide and an extra refuge night.
Winter changes the number
Between November and March all three summits are snow, and crampons and an ice axe
stop being optional. Rental in Imlil runs 100โ150 MAD per person per day, so a
three-day winter trip adds roughly 300โ450 MAD each. Budget for it rather than
discovering it at the trailhead.
What is not included
- Travel insurance with altitude cover โ mandatory, and genuinely necessary on a 4,167 m mountain
- Personal trekking equipment โ boots, layers, headtorch
- Tips for guide and porter โ 150โ200 MAD a day for the guide, 70โ100 for the porter, is customary
- Winter crampons and ice axe โ rental available in Imlil
Everything else โ the high-altitude guide, both refuge nights, all meals on the
trek, the mule porter, park fees and the round-trip from Marrakech โ is in the
โฌ280.
Is it worth it over a single summit?
If you have already been above 3,000 m recently and want the hardest thing the High
Atlas offers in a long weekend, yes. If Toubkal itself is the goal, the
4-day trek at โฌ360 is the better buy: it costs
slightly more but includes a proper acclimatisation day, which is the single largest
factor in whether people actually reach a summit.
