Overview

This is the definitive Marrakech desert circuit. Four days to experience everything the south of Morocco offers: the drama of the High Atlas, the cinematic grandeur of Aït Ben Haddou (used in Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia), the 400 m walls of Todra Gorge, a full night in an Erg Chebbi desert camp, and the return journey via the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. A tour with enough time to breathe, explore, and genuinely absorb one of the most spectacular landscapes on earth.

Full night at an Erg Chebbi desert camp — sunset and sunrise camel treks
Todra Gorge — Morocco's most dramatic canyon (400 m walls, 4 km walk)
UNESCO Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou — Gladiator and Game of Thrones location
Dades Valley — Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs
Skoura Oasis — sea of date palms and ancient earthen kasbahs
Return via the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs — Draa Valley corridor

Frequently asked questions

How much walking or difficulty is involved?
Very little — it is graded easy. Most distance is by air-conditioned minibus or 4x4; effort is limited to short walks at Todra Gorge and Aït Ben Haddou and the optional camel treks.
Where do we sleep each night?
One night in a Dades Valley hotel, one night in a Berber camp at Erg Chebbi, and one night in an Ouarzazate hotel. Dinner and breakfast are included except the final Ouarzazate morning (breakfast only).
What is not included?
Lunches (budget roughly €12–15 per meal), the optional Atlas Film Studios ticket (~€7), alcoholic drinks, personal travel insurance, and tips.
Do we reach the real Sahara?
Yes — you reach Erg Chebbi with a full night at a desert camp plus sunset and sunrise camel treks. The four-day length is what crossing the Atlas properly requires.
What does the fourth day buy me over the 3-day tour?
Time rather than extra distance. The three-day version is a hard loop with two long driving days; the fourth day lets the gorge country and the dunes breathe, and usually means a second night in the desert region rather than a dawn start for the return. If the driving is what worries you about a three-day trip, this is the version to book.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
A mix of desert camp and hotel or kasbah nights, with dinner and breakfast at each. The camp has shared facilities; the hotels are private rooms. The exact split depends on the route we run for your dates.
How cold does the desert get at night?
In spring and autumn, around 12–18 °C after dark. In midwinter it can approach freezing in the dunes. Blankets are provided at the camp, but a warm layer for the evening is worth packing whatever the season — the drop after sunset is sharp.
Can dietary requirements be catered for?
Yes. Vegetarian is straightforward everywhere on this route, and vegan, halal and common allergies can be handled if you tell us when booking so the camp and the kasbahs know in advance.

Why book with us directly

Booking platforms charge operators 25–40% commission. Booking direct means the money stays with the family and the guides who walk with you — and you deal with the people running the trek, not a call centre.
