A 7-Day Morocco Itinerary from Agadir (With Real Prices)

Why this itinerary exists

Almost every Morocco itinerary online starts in Marrakech. That is reasonable — most visitors land there. But a large number of people arrive at Agadir instead, on a package flight or a winter-sun booking, and then find that the guides they read do not apply.

This is the week we would plan for a friend arriving at Agadir. Everything in it maps to a tour we actually operate, at prices from our own booking pages, and the drives are described as they really are rather than as a brochure would have them.

One honest framing before the days: Agadir is a superb base for the south and a long way from everything else. Paradise Valley is 35 km away. Merzouga is roughly 700. Plan around that and the week is excellent.

The short version

All three are private tours. Prices fall substantially with group size — the same desert tour is about 319 EUR each for four people, and 242 EUR each for six.

Option 1: the desert week

The strongest choice if you have never seen the Sahara, and the one most people should take.

Days 1–4 — Agadir Desert Grand Tour, 519 EUR per person for two.

Day one runs inland through Taroudant and over the Atlas to Ouarzazate. Day two takes you through Aït Ben Haddou and the Dades or Todra gorges. Day three is the long push to Erg Chebbi, the camel ride at sunset, and the night in a desert camp. Day four brings you back to the coast.

It is four days because it has to be. The same desert from Marrakech is a three-day trip; from Agadir you are adding roughly 250 km each way. Any operator selling you Merzouga from Agadir in three days is either driving through the night or taking you somewhere else and calling it the Sahara.

Days 5–7 — the coast.

Come back tired and use the remaining days close to home:

• Paradise Valley and Immouzer, 38 EUR per person for two — palm gorges and natural pools, 35 km out
• Taroudant, 37 EUR per person for two — the walled market town, far quieter than Marrakech
• A day doing nothing at all on the beach, which after four days of desert driving is not a wasted day

Week total, two travellers: roughly 594 EUR per person for the touring, plus your Agadir accommodation on the free days.

Option 2: the imperial week

For travellers who care more about cities, history and medinas than dunes.

Days 1–6 — Agadir to All 4 Imperial Cities, 515 EUR per person for two.

Marrakech, Meknes, Fes and Rabat in six days, returning to the coast. You cross the Atlas, spend real time in the Fes medina — which is the one most people find more overwhelming and more rewarding than Marrakech — and see Roman Volubilis and the Rabat coastline on the way back.

Be clear-eyed: this is a driving week. Six days for four cities spread across the country means early starts and long transfers. It is the right trip for someone who wants breadth, and the wrong trip for someone who wants to sit in one riad and read.

Day 7 — recover on the coast, or add Paradise Valley at 38 EUR each if you still have energy.

Option 3: the coast and mountains week

The unhurried option, and the one we quietly recommend to people travelling with small children or anyone who does not enjoy long drives.

• Day 1 — Paradise Valley and Immouzer, 38 EUR each
• Day 2 — Taroudant, 37 EUR each
• Day 3 — beach and the Agadir souk
• Days 4–5 — Anti-Atlas trekking, 258 EUR per person for two, in the Tafraoute granite and the almond valleys
• Day 6 — Essaouira, 51 EUR each, the windy Atlantic town with the blue boats
• Day 7 — rest, or Souss-Massa National Park at 88 EUR each for the bald ibis and the river mouth

Week total, two travellers: roughly 472 EUR per person, and no day requires more than about two hours of driving.

The drives, honestly

This is the section most itineraries skip.

Moroccan roads are good and the motorway network is better than most visitors expect, but mountain sections are slow and nobody enjoys the Tizi n'Tichka pass at speed. The times above are what a sensible driver actually takes, with stops.

What we would pick

If it is your first week in Morocco and you are landing at Agadir: take the desert week. Four days of touring, three days of coast, one night under a sky you will remember, and enough recovery time that you fly home rested rather than wrecked.

If you have seen the Sahara already, or dunes simply do not interest you, the imperial week is the better trip — provided you go in knowing it is a driving week.

Before you book

Two things worth deciding early:

Group size changes the price more than anything else. Every private tour above drops steeply per person as the group grows. Four travellers pay between about 18 and 39 percent less each than two, depending on the route.

You do not have to return to Agadir. If you are flying home from Marrakech, say so when booking — finishing a desert or imperial tour there removes a 250 km leg and buys you two unhurried nights in the medina.
